Energy Conservation Tips

Lights and fans
  1. Switch off lights and fans when not in use
  2. Use natural day light as far as possible during day time.
  3. Replace incandescent lamps with energy efficient lamps like CFLs, LED lights etc.
  4. Use 28 watts T5 tubes in place of 40 watts T12 tubes
  5. Use electronic ballast in place of conventional chokes for tube lights.
  6. Use electronic speed regulators for ceiling fans.
  7. Lubricate fans regularly
Refrigerator
  1. Check the gasket for leak and prevent hot air entering inside
  2. Don’t open the door frequently
  3. Place the fridge in place where there is sufficient natural air passage
  4. Defrost the fridge to avoid ice accumulation
  5. Don’t keep food materials in hot condition
  6. While purchasing new fridge go for Star rated energy efficient system
Air Conditioner
  1. Use stabilizer with conditioner & act the voltage to 220 V.
  2. Clean the filters, condenser coils and thermostat at regular intervals.
  3. Avoid frequent opening of doors and windows.
  4. Installation of need screens in air-conditioners.
  5. Save Re. 1/-per hour by setting the room temperature to 2500
  6. Purchase ‘Star’ rated energy efficient Air Conditioners only.
Washing Machine
  1. Using the machine at full load, the water consumption remains the same irrespective of loads of cloths.
  2. Switch on the washing machine after loading.
  3. Putt off the machine from the main switch after use.
  4. Same about 15%-12% of power by setting thermostat to 500c
Television
  1. Switch off the TV from the main switch and not through remote control.
  2. Don’t leave TV on stand-by mode as it consumes around 80 watts of power even when not being viewed.
Computers
  1. Switch on the computer when required to be used.
  2. Don’t leave the computer on stand-by mode when not in use as in stand-by mode, it consumes 60 watts of power while no useful work is being done.
Good Energy Saving Practices
  1. Use bicycle for short travels
  2. Don’t use Heavy loads like Water pumps, Electric iron etc during peak load period
  3. Convert all the perishable domestic waste in to biogas for cooking and manure
  4. Use solar water heater for heating water. It can be used for taking bath,cooking and for cleaning vessels and clothes.
  5. Purchase equipments with star labeling
